I love to watch my youngest son play video games. I have run the full spectrum of video game allowance — at first I was a die-hard no video games at all kind of parent. A good long time where we were not allowed out of our house much while Zeke was not yet a year old cured me of that view. As a family, we started playing a few games together on a Friday night along with homemade pizza. It was a better way of spending our time than just a movie and it got everyone involved.
With my older children, I have wavered between strictly limiting video games each week to more of a relaxed limit. However, like most things, once my youngest achieves a milestone, we celebrate it. Zeke playing video games is a sudden revelation of grateful rejoicing for things we take for granted with the others. Coordination and involvement is not something to take lightly in our child.
